How to to do a fishbone plait step by step tutorial
- You will need: A comb; two hairbands; HAIR!
- Place the hair in to a ponytail using the comb and one hairband (this is optional, however, doing a fishbone plait without having put hair in a ponytail is somewhat advanced!)
- Separate ponytail into two even sections
- Grip the two sections with your two hands in a fist, with your four fingers gripping the hair, and your thumbs pointing upwards.
- Using your right (or left) index finger, section off a small amount from the far right hand side of the hair.
- Move this section over to the left hand whilst still gripping the two sections.
- Merge this section with the left hand section, placing it on the inside of the left hand section.
- Place your right thumb on top and apply pressure to the small section of hair, just crossed to ensure it doesn't move.
- Use your left index finger to section off a small amount from the far left hand side of the hair. This small section should be around the same size as the small section taken from the right hand side.
- Merge this section with the right hand section, placing it on the inside of the right hand section.
- Place your left thumb on the and apply pressure to the small section of hair just crossed to ensure it doesn't move
- Using your right index finger, section off a small amount from the far right hand side of the hair.
- Move this section over to the left hand whilst still gripping the two sections.
- Merge this section with the left hand section, placing it on the inside of the left hand section.
- Place your right thumb on top and apply pressure to the small section of hair, just crossed to ensure it doesn't move.
- Use your left index finger to section off a small amount from the far left hand side of the hair. This small section should be around the same size as the small section taken from the right hand side.
- Merge this section with the right hand section, placing it on the inside of the right hand section.
- Place your left thumb on the and apply pressure to the small section of hair just crossed to ensure it doesn't move
- Go back to step 5.
- Keep doing this until you feel as though you have finished
- Tie off the ends with a hairband/elastic (this is optional although it may not stay in without the hairband at the end)
- You have a finished fishbone plait. YAY!

Hi mike, thanks for your comment. I will post some pice of a boys braided style tomorrow. Also, the blog entry 'single plaits: switching it up' was in a boys head. Thanks for your suggestion though. I'll look into some more male styles for different types of hair!
